Sign in with Apple and your account

Two ways to sign in

nærwert supports:

  • Email and password — create an account during onboarding and confirm your email address
  • Sign in with Apple — use your Apple ID on iPhone (available at sign-up and on the sign-in screen)

Both methods create a nærwert account. They are not always merged automatically.

If you signed up with email and password

Use email and password to sign in. Do not use Sign in with Apple for the same address unless you have already linked Apple to that account in the app.

If you tap Sign in with Apple anyway, sign-in may fail because Supabase treats it as a separate login method. Your existing profile, meals, and settings stay on the email account.

What to do: On the welcome screen, choose I already have an account, then sign in with the email and password you used during onboarding.

If you signed up with Apple first

You can sign in with Apple on any device where you are logged into the same Apple ID.

If you later try to create a new account with the same email address and a password, nærwert will tell you that the email is already registered. Sign in with Apple instead.

Hide My Email

When Apple offers Hide My Email, it may give nærwert a private relay address (for example @privaterelay.appleid.com) instead of your personal email.

That relay address is not the same as an email-and-password account you created with your real address. In that case you can end up with two separate nærwert accounts — one for Apple, one for email.

To avoid duplicate accounts:

  • Pick one sign-in method and stick with it, or
  • Use the same Apple ID choice (share email vs. hide email) consistently

Forgot which method you used?

  • If you received a confirmation or reset email from nærwert, you have an email-and-password account.
  • If you only ever used the Continue with Apple or Sign in with Apple button and never set a password, use Apple sign-in.

Still stuck?

Contact us at hello@naerwert.com. Tell us which sign-in method you tried and the email address on your account (if you know it). We can help you find the right account.

Note: Linking Apple to an existing email account from Settings is planned but not available in the app yet. Until then, keep using the method you originally signed up with.
